The key visual design for Asia Art Archive’s major research project, ‘Materials of the Future: Documenting Contemporary Chinese Art from 1980-1990’ is inspired by the large typographic banners and wall slogans commonly seen in propaganda in the communist China.

The key visual It features a series of montage of archival materials as the background for the project title. The unique typography and image style reflect the atmosphere of the Chinese contemporary art scene in the 1980s.
